Herbie Hancock, piano and synthesizers.
Herbie Hancock got his start playing in Miles Davis’ band. After playing for a while in one of Miles’ most successful bands, he went on to lead his own for a while. Herbie embraced synthesizers and funk and is well known for his playing on the Rhodes piano. His bassline for the song Chameleon can be recognized instantly.
Charlie “Bird” Parker, alto saxophone.
Bird was the greatest saxophone player of all time. He created bebop along with Dizzy Gillespie. Music was not the same after Bird. His lines are beautifully melodic and fast. They are packed with feeling and emotion. Charlie had his own sound, no matter what saxophone he used. One might practice their whole life and never play as well as Bird.
