 |
This is a growing list of masters who play and have played jazz. Each of them has impacted the music in one way or another. If your favorite master is not included in this list it is only because I have not had enough time to study their music and give an accurate summary of their style, not because they were not worthy enough to make the list.

Music Artists and Facts |
Lennie Tristano, piano.
Lennie was a blind jazz pianist virtuoso. He is well known for playing a walking baseline in his left hand and swinging, rhythmically complex melodies in his right. His solo and ensemble playing are some of the best by any piano player ever to live. Later in his life, Lennie focused on teaching and has many accomplished students. |
Miles Davis, trumpet.
Miles always embraced change and innovation. His music spans many decades and many styles. He got his start playing with Charlie Parker. Miles was a pioneer of “cool” playing and using space, and experimented with synthesizers later in his career. His passion for music has made a legend who had influence on many other legends after him. |
